campfire burning papers and getting fired up
Very on-point.

Welcome to my first official FIRE-related post! For those who are new to the blog, FIRE stands for the Financial Independence, Retire Early movement. So yes, I got fired. Most people think of getting fired as the end of the road. For me, it was the beginning of something better — because I was the one who did the firing.

The Decision to Pivot

After almost a year of running my small crystal shop, I made the decision to fire myself. Not because I failed, but because I succeeded in learning what I needed to learn. The truth is, I wasn't making many sales. I was losing more money than I could ever make. I did not have the time or the resources to keep waiting for eventual, unpromised growth. I realized I was wasting time and money simultaneously, and that's not compatible with any of my personal goals.

But I did learn a few things along the way, even if it never turned into the kind of empire I once imagined. Sometimes the win lies in knowing when to pivot and make space for something new and better. By firing myself, I freed up the energy I was pouring into something that didn’t quite fit. Now, I get to redirect it into work that feels sharper, more aligned, and more impactful. And that's what this blog is all about.

The Crystal Shop Experience

I started this blog earlier this year. It was meant to be a lifestyle blog. I then got the wonderful idea of starting my own business in Florida and selling crystals. Sounds fun, right? Not! There was a lot of stress, anxiety, and endless fees. So many fees.

Debt is something that I have always tried to avoid. I paid off all my debt earlier this year (more on that later), and I was really starting over. Then I got the crystal shop idea. Now, I'm stuck with literally tons of crystals and supplies at home and not one penny in profits. The good news is, anyone can catch my liquidation sale on Etsy and on eBay. I have crystals and collectible coins available.

The Reality of Firing Myself

But back to the firing. I really don't want to work tirelessly for the rest of my life. My dad and my father-in-law both laughed when I said I wanted to retire at 38. I'm 28 now, and I'm very serious about retiring early. I am in the midst of drafting my manuscript, which I've been working on for years. It's all about aligning your energy with your goals. That's exactly what I'm doing now.

Instead of draining my energy on side hustles that don't make me any profits, I'm going to focus on what does work (hint: hard work). I am lucky enough to have a wonderful, full-time remote job. I work from home, I pretty much set my own hours, and no one breathes down my neck for the entire 40 hours a week. I am proud of the career I've built and I am eager to continue nurturing it every time I clock in.

The Path to Financial Independence

But not forever, and certainly not for the next 40 or so years of my life. This is where FIRE comes in. I'm still in the early stages of learning about it, but everything I've read or seen about it so far excites me to the point of wanting to share it with everyone. I am keeping my Florida-based LLC, writing my book, blogging every day from now on, and getting ready to retire within the next 10 years. Pretty simple, right? Absolutely.

I invite you to follow me on this journey to getting FIRE’d. It’s not just about an endpoint; it’s about living with intention and creating your future on purpose. Firing myself from my small business wasn’t the end — it was the spark. From here, it’s about building with clarity, choosing what truly matters, and proving that sometimes the boldest move you can make is to let go and start fresh.

The Power of Crystals in Spirituality

Crystals have a unique way of connecting us to our inner selves and the universe. They can be used in meditation and manifestation practices. By incorporating crystals into your spiritual journey, you can enhance your energy and align your intentions with your goals. I encourage you to explore the world of crystals, as they can serve as powerful tools for personal growth and transformation.

Last chance to grab wholesale crystal lots, polished tumbles, and healing stones at discounted prices. Once sold out, they’re gone → Etsy.

Always with love,

Carla
